SandBar Restaurant has New Owners
SandBar Restaurant, in Sandy Ground, has been sold to Darren and Alicia Banks who have come to Anguilla from Northern California. We are all sorry to see Joash and Denise go on to new adventures, but they have left their business in very capable hands.
Over 25 Years Combined Experience in the Food and Beverage Industry
Alicia has been in the food industry for 15 years and was last at Lucca’s Food & Wine Bar in Sacramento. She headed the catering team and did all of the training for new staff members. Lucca’s provides gourmet food, at the restaurant or through the catering division, for anywhere from 10-500 guests.
Interesting note: Alicia was the personal food advisor for Governor Schwartznagger when he dined at the restaurant.
Darren was a member of the Custom Food and Beverage division of Stephen Gould, where, for 12 years, he designed food and beverage packaging and marketed the product.
As an aside, Darren is a certified PGA professional, so watch out all of you golfers. You’ve got some new competition.
The couple will be keeping the same format of the Tapas and Wine Bar but will be concentrating on broadening the menu to incorporate more diverse items such as Zucchini Carpaccio. Many of the original menu items will remain and, not to worry, the beloved French Fries will still be available.
Living the Dream with their Anguilla Restaurant
Darren and Alicia were married on Anguilla in 2005 and have been frequent visitors to the island. They have always wanted to relocate here so when the restaurant became available they made their decision to buy it.
We wish them good luck and much success in their new venture.
